Previous NextComp (NextComp2017)

NextComp 2017 was held on 19 - 21 July 2017 at the Le Méridien Ile Maurice Beach Resort in Mauritius.

The Proceedings of NextComp 2017 are available in IEEE Xplore.

It was a great pleasure to welcome the participants to Mauritius and to the first International Conference on Next Generation Computing Applications, NextComp2017. The NextComp2017 conference provided a peer- reviewed platform for academia, government, and industry to present novel research on state of the art computing technologies, as well as case studies and implementation experiences. The conference addressed new developments in theory and practice in the area of Communication and Computer Networks, Security and Forensics, Intelligent Systems, Data Analytics, Information Management and Enterprise Systems, Bioinformatics and Heathcare Information Systems and Software Engineering Principles, Practices & Applications. It successfully promoted effective and vibrant networking among researchers and practitioners from around the world.

NextComp 2017 attracted a number of full-paper submissions from over different countries including South Africa, India, Pakistan, Reunion Island, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Algeria, Botswana and Saudi Arabia amongst others, highlighting the truly global character of the conference. Each submission was subject to a rigorous double-blind review process that involved evaluation by at least two reviewers. Reviewers were assigned based on their area of expertise and experience. Only papers having at least two favorable reviews and having passed a plagiarism check were accepted for oral presentation and publication in the NextComp 2017 conference proceedings. The final acceptance rate was of 46%. The quality of the papers and relevance of the research contributions were the main acceptance criteria.

The conference would not have been possible without the enthusiastic and hard work of a number of colleagues. The organisers of NextComp2017 are also thankful to the authors who responded to our call for papers, the members of the program committee and the external referees who, with their opinion and expertise, ensured a very high quality program.

Special thanks to the Keynote Speakers, Prof. Anthony T.S. Ho, Prof. Jean-Paul Van Belle, Prof. Scott Hazelhurst and Prof. Prabhakar T.V. for sharing their views on current research topics.
